Stony Brook University Medical Center
Remote Access Instructions: AnyConnect VPN

INTRODUCTION

The AnyConnect VPN will allow access to the SBUMC network from your home, hotel, etc., using your own internet service provider (i.e., Optimum Online, Verizon DSL/FiOS, etc.) However, the AnyConnect VPN is NOT necessary if you are physically in one of the SBUMC buildings (UH, HSC, BST, ASC/ACP, Dental School, Tech Park, etc.).

The AnyConnect VPN system works by installing a client on your computer and encrypting all the data sent from it to the SBUMC campus. Some of the resources that the AnyConnect VPN connection will allow you to have secure access to are as follows: Powerchart, SMS Invision, internal websites, remote control software, network files, etc. All data passed over the AnyConnect VPN connection will be encrypted and secure to ensure the confidentiality and security of our patients and all patient-related information.
